Massimo Pigliucci, professor at Lehman College and author of Nonsense on Stilts: How to Tell Science from Bunk, talks about the ambiguity surrounding science and why people believe "bunk" and pseudoscientific practices. He also blogs at and has a podcast also called Rationally Speaking.
(Thanks Rich)

  3. I don't think it's all vacuous crap, but overall I'd say that he failed to clearly demarcate the line between science and bunk.  He does say that if you're not formulating testable hypotheses then you're not doing real science.  However, I don't think he realises that most of America doesn't have a clue what that means.  Also, I can't believe that they left out the anti-vaxer movement.

  4. I thought he came across as knowledgable and understanding. You might find his lack of "BANZAI ATTACK!"-mode frustrating, but I thought it was refreshing.
