1. Did you notice how the anchor tipped her hand by starting off with "Dan, what's your problem"?
Also, how come people keep using the majority argument for this issue when one of the purposes of government is to protect the minority?

2. I wonder how Mr Morris would respond to a national day of no prayer? Imagine if the president appealed to all Americans to unclasp their hands but instead role up their sleeves and participate in efforts to alleviate suffering faced by people all around the world.

I bet there woud be an outcry.

3. Is it me or does it look like Father Morris lets others carry his luggage, if you know what I mean?

4. You'll notice that right after Dan said "prayer can even be dangerous," you can hear Morris murmur, almost attempting to jump in with some bullshit counter-argument.

5. The national day of altar building? The national day of animal sacrifice? ...of human sacrifice? ...of stoning? ...of absolute sexism? ...of genocide? Slavery? Rape? Mutilation? Polygamy? Incest? How about the national day of Balaam's talking donkey?

Why don't we celebrate any of those? It's all there for anyone to read. It's all true after all, and apparently, all good. Word.

6. I don't see how a national day of prayer is any different from the gov't acknowledging public holidays on Xtian milestones (Xmas, easter).

Noone is forced to pray.

On the other hand, I think there SHOULD be a national day of science and reason, on which noone is forced to think logically (LOL).

Let's see which has the better outcome for the nation.

7. "Its not even about religion its about faith" What a bunch of BS. Its more about religions constant attempt at using the government to legitimatise their beliefs.

8. Some help from James Madison on the separation of church and state may be found at the positiveatheism.org page of Madison quotes. Note the section, at the page bottom, on "Phony James Madison Quotations..."

Also, Chris Rodda's book Liars For Jesus contains these lines in her discussion of Madison's "Detached Memoranda" (ch 9): "Madison made clear his objections to mixing religion and government in even the smallest ways. A few of the practices he singled out as being unconstitutional or potentially dangerous were tax supported chaplains in congress and in the military, and government proclamations of days of prayer and thanksgiving. Religious right American history authors hate this document and usually attempt to discredit it in some way before even getting to its actual content."

According to Madison's Wikipedia page, he's the "Father of the Bill of Rights." He's important to separation of church and state issues.

I again link to Judge Crabb's decision.

9. Here we go again! 3 comments with one "post." The post had no links defined in it. Is my comment too long?

10. I would also object to a "National Day of Reason." It is the people's business (and right) to philosophize and the governments' business (and obligation) to protect that right. There's a huge difference between officials making claims, when defending some government decision or law, and promoting those same claims as law.

I wish they had brought in someone who could just sit back and laugh at them. That´s what these people need, ridicule to see how completely ridiculous they are.

Morris and the rest came across as stupid, desperate, childish, fearful and paranoid. Any enemy of western society watching this would think that the end is neigh and victory imminent. Mass prayer for your government and it´s soldiers is sending a terrible message to the very people who want to undermine the USA.
