Archaeologist claims ancient fortifications found in Jerusalem support the accuracy of the bible's narrative
That's nice, theists. Now go out and play in the sand again.
cool, man did they try hard to erase ANY indication of his existance...but damnit they found something~!!!!~a bit irrelevant to me though >_>
OK, lets play fair...Evidence is valuable and needs to be evaluated. Don't be afraid of the truth, just because you may not like it!
Seems a stretch to say - we have a wall that is from a time that agrees with where some biblical scholar place a story therefore the story is true. All the wall really indicates is a certain degree of settlement surrounding the area at a particular time. What is the archaelogical evidence for the existence of King David or Solomon? Is there any form of remnant that mentions them by name? I genuinely haven't looked for any such thing but to say to the media, we have wall, therefore the OT story is true is a pretty desperate play for more funding as far as I can tell - much the same way as a lab reporting on a new potential cure for breast cancer which hasn't even progressed to an animal model in testing.
It's important not to be knee jerk about things like this. The finding simply supports the existence of a centralized civilization that corresponds with the chronology of David's Israel in the Bible. It's useful, and very possibly accurate, but it needn't excite anyone on this board. For centuries people doubted the existence of the historical Troy, but even its excavation doesn't mean that Zeus exists.
Dateline: February 23, 3010 A.D: Archeologists discover ruins of the ancient city called "Tokyo", thereby proving once and for all that the ancient legends of Godzilla were actually true. This comes on the heels of the astonishing discovery of a place called "New York", in exactly the location where Spiderman comics claimed it would be thereby proving Spiderman was real as well.
Best response ever. EVER!
Oh shit, something in the bible is actually... TRUE!!! :O
