It will be 5 years soon. Seriously, what did he think?

    - A "stupid drawing from an infidel" is enough for Allah to be disturbed?
    - Allah is feeling himself terrible since 2005, and without a mortal's help he cannot get better?
    - ... or is it just a good escape route from life to Allah? (Best perspective for an antisocial, suicidal, holy jerk.)

  2. This sort of story provides much clarity on religious prohibitions on "images" from the previous millenia; particularly, the sort of prohibitions that lead to jihads, inquisitions, book burnings, and the destruction of whole cultures, wholesale.

Cartoons have this "mystical" sort of power - Priceless, in and of itself. I find it helpful to remember that the ancient Greeks placed a high cultural value on comedy, for its power as a disinfecting agent.

I sometimes desire more caricatures of "Saint" Paul, and less of Jesus; the offensive part of these Danish cartoons is that they pick on the Prophet, not the Supreme Deity at all.

I´m danish and live in Denmark, how we let these people is beyond me.

Odd that these people have moved to a country which historically has had a luke warm relationship with religion. It won´t surprise me if they find out that this axe wielding disciple has received welfare by the danish (secular) state.

  5. I too am Danish, and I don't think this single incident should be seen as an "attack on democracy" or should form the basis of any change in policy. If we let one man's crazy antics influence the lives of more than 5 million, we're a nation up for grabs when the next demagog comes along.

  6.
I wonder when / if we are finally going to see Muslims in the Western world demonstrating against the violent and murderous idiots such as this Somali barbarian whom claim to represent their God and all its followers. Are they afraid to do so? Don't they care? Don't they know how? Or do most Muslims actually agree that blasphemers like Kurt Westergaard should be punished (by being hunted down and getting slaughtered)?

Just saying Islam is a religion of peace means nothing if the majority of the followers seems to accept barbarians as their representatives. Of course I might just have missed news items covering such demonstrations or any other initiatives taken by Muslims to firmly show a counter voice, but I can't find it.

No zZz, I have been wondering about it that too. The so-called moderates only come out of the woodwork when their religion is being scrutinized. That Kurt Westergaard has to live with constant police protection in a democratic secular country is absolutely shocking.

Martin I am in a working environment where I come into contact with´many muslim´s. From what I have seen and experienced, it does not bode well I am affraid. I don´t think our laws should be changed either but I disagree with you, this is an attack on our democracy. We should be out in the streets demonstrating showing our support for Kurt but also for our hard won secular rights.
