Are Christians the New Persecuted?

*Note: Video is blocked in the UK (Available on 4oD in 7 parts)
December 2010 on Channel 4
The rise of aggressive secularism and radical Islam has left many Christians feeling under attack and unable to express their faith. Do Christians really face abuse and discrimination? Or are they just struggling to adjust to multi-faith Britain?

Interviews with Nicky Rawlins, Bishop Nick Baines, Gary MacFarlane, Peter Tatchell, Andrea Williams, Bishop Michael Nazir Ali, and Anjem Choudary.

  1. What utter idiocy. In what way are Christians or ANY other faith/religion being 'persecuted' by anyone of non-faith/non-theism? Critisized, absolutely; persecuted, an absolute idiotic proclamation.

  2. Hai I'm Garry Mcfarlane. I discriminate against gay people and then I'm shocked when I get discriminated against myself. Problem officer?

  3. Repeat of my comment on the youtibe channel:

"Are christians the new persecuted"? FUCK no. The queen is a christian. The 'Defender of the Faith' is one of her many titles. Christian clergy automatically has a place in the House of Lords. Christianity is the state religion of the UK. Christians practically rule over the UK. You aren't dragged out of your homes, or being sent to concentration camps, or being relegated to the back of the bus.
The Jews in WWII where persecuted. Christians in the UK are not.
    Now, kindly STFU.

  4. What a load of crock. One single, lonely example of apparent discrimination, with absolutely zero context. And that equals persecution.

Christians are really a bunch of wusses, aren't they?

  5. Imagine the outrage from Catholics if Wikileaks had tagged the Vatican and all the dirt was revealed http://www.vergilden.com/essays/2010/12/8/wikileaks-from-the-vatican-what-if.html

  6. Wait...what? So the imam at the end moans about muslims being persecuted in Britain and then says - without the blink of an eye - that islam and a secular society cannot mix? And still he's bitching about it? So in essence he's moaning about the UK NOT being a sharia state?
Boo-hoo, cry me a river. Having multiple faiths on the same turf means you dont get to persecute and harass people in accordance with your story book, deal with it. Didn't you know that when you arrived you muppet?

  7. The bible clearly demands they should pray in private. So it's rather GOD that's persecuting them.

  8. Well yes, it's Anjem Choudary. Among his other loving pronouncements are an open admission that he celebrates the 7/7 and 9/11 attacks, that he would like to see the "flag of Islam" flying over downing street, and that citizens of Britain have no right to assume they own their land or some such because Islam is divine and wil take over and bla bla bla bla....

There are essentially two takes on him, that he is either a pathetic troll who can be safely ignored, or that he is evil incarnate, profoundly dangerous, and will stop at nothing to instigate a bloody jihad in the west.I tend to think that the former is most likely currently true, but given the opportunity and means, he could easily and very rapidly transform into the latter.

    Cheers to Peter Thatchell.

On a more light hearted note, Andrea Williams´s hairdo looks like a "cross" between Snookie and Kate Gosslin. And I bet she will feel so much better if she could rant and rave like that other NJ person who uttered the now famous:"Prostitution Whore, Prostitution Whore!!!!

  11. indeed... Islam is a totalitarian religion as would christianity if it was allowed to be, in fact all religions would like it if we all converted to their brand of mysticism. the sad point is they see nothing wrong with that and would embrace fascism if it was started by their religion, look at Iran and Israel for 2 examples.

  12. I once dug my high heels in to a vicar and slapped him about the face several times. I then chained him to a railing and whipped him. Given that he paid in cash and tipped me generously - does that count?

  13. I recon it's a case of "self ppersecution". The deluded are figuring out that to the rest of us, they really look a bit silly, a sandwhich short of a picnic when they express their faith, however one does that. They are slowly waking up to the fact that their belief system is nothing more than smoke and mirrors and that's being a bit generous. It really is a case of emerging embarassment for the religiots as science and reason renders what they believe in,to nothing more than a steaming pile of superstitious nonsense.
