this show is such a failure... they had 15 minutes and the opposition got like only a couple of the last minutes, and they were both interupted. are tax payers paying for this crap?
Typical BBC pro-religious accommodationist rubbish. They've gone so far to the left all truth is relative to these numpties as evidenced by their sneaking of this crap into their science documentaries.
Going to Andy McIntosh for the first "scientific" view is amazing. There are few examples of more insane creationists in the UK they could have picked.
"There's no good reason to believe There and Back Again is a fantasy story, or a metaphore. For example, Gandalf himself refers to it as real historical writings.
wow how can this guy be so dumb the intergalactic ultra god that god himself prays to created the world exactly 52 days and 27 hours ago all the science points to my ridiculous story is true because i made all the evidence fit my presupposed assumptions.
ok ... i got about 6 min in and had to stop watching ...i could feel my intelligence being sucked out of my head. for once i am glad it wasn't someone from the U.S.
I urge pissed off people, myself included, to write to the BBC and complain about this - totally unfair representation and time allotment to present counter arguments, piss poor moderation of the "debate" etc.
They have to answer complaints, and also will have to justify their acts. Hopefuly, if they receive enough complaints, they will issue an on program apology and correction. Its happened before.
What a shameful debate. The only two sane people on this show had a minute to speak whilst the others indulged in their own interpretations of the supernatural. I'm all for the BBC letting the religious make a point and treating them fairly; it actually supports a scientific thinking and reasoning once people listen to their nonsense. However, it is disgraceful that debate time was so unfairly allotted to a religious point of view especially when the BBC is tax-payer funded.
But the BBC is left????? Are you British? Did you watch the last election coverage on the Beeb? If you had you surely could not seriously make such a claim.
Secondly, what as left got to do with 'truth is relative'? Cant think of one marxist philosopher or economist who would agree with such a statement.
I suspect your American, and you think 'liberalism' (for want of a better term) is the same as left. It is not, far from it. Who could seriously think Lenin or Stalin thought "All truth is relative."
The guy is delusional. He is not only saying Evolution is wrong, but also the radio active dating method of science, geology, cosmology & astronomy are wrong. Goodness sake, grow up dude.
Even the professor of thermodynamics in the video was wrong. Evolution does not violate any law of nature and that includes the 3 known laws of thermodynamics (this box is too small for me to explain). The only thing that actually violates all the known laws of nature (including the conservation of energy, laws of motion, etc) is the supreme being idea that utterly creates and do things with magical or supernatural powers (even the creator herself poping into existence out of thin air is nothing but magic). Might as well, say the world was made by the fairy-god mother. The professor of thermodynamics in the video was a disgrace. What a shame.
But to be fair, the creationist looks like he has a cracking sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteThat this was shown on the BBC

ReplyDeleteWhen did Fox news buy out the BBC? I now have to go puke.
ReplyDeleteI woke up this morning, and this discussion literally just started.
ReplyDeleteThe bad thing, started my day off with a headache.
Good thing - I felt so annoyed I got up quicker than usual.
This was a bad programme, agreed.

what is wrong with them... why are they asking an professor of thermodynemics about evolution and not a biologist?! oh my... what a bullshit
