  2. Ah fighting fire with fire... what could possibly be more effective?

  3. Im ashamed to say that i live 10 minutes from the church that is responsible for Terry Jones.

    The idiocy, it hurts.

They have signs up on the road that read "islam is of the devil". they keep getting torn down, but they keep putting them back up.

They also sent children to school last year wearing shirts printed again with their favorite slogan... The kids this year must all wear uniforms.

Nuts that taunt the rabid dog with a stick like this guy Terry Jones truly make me afraid of the future.

A few of my Athiest friends here in Gainesville plan on meeting to condemn the burning and discourage the religious zealots.

  4. At least they are criticizing a religion, even if it isn't theirs. You would think that they could come up with a more creative way to offend Muslims. Maybe recycle the Korans into toilet paper and print caricatures of Muhammad on every sheet.

  5. I think it's pretty funny that these Muslims are burning a representation of the guy.  I'm on the Muslims side on this one.  There's no reason to insult everyone of a religion based on a few bad apples.  People may think that Islam is a religion of hate and murder, but that doesn't mean that Islam is always taught that way, perceived that way, or that all the practitioners are somehow dangerous.  I grew up next to a family of Muslims myself and one of them was my bestfriend for years.  That family was just as wholesome and any other family.  I personally blame certain media outlets and talk shows for the horrible prejudice that all Muslims are somehow bad just because they are Muslim.

  6. I wonder how many american flags we sell just so they can be burned.  If people love America, you sell flags.  IF people hate America, you sell flags.  Looks like a great business to get into.

  7. If we do not believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, or for ideas we disagree with, then we do not believe in it at all! Freedom of expression includes the freedom to insult too.

<span>"Nuts that taunt the rabid dog with a stick like this guy Terry Jones truly make me afraid of the future." </span>

Your fear of offending the "rabid dog" is what scares me! How much ground are you willing to give to the "dog" before you are no longer willing to shield him from offense?

I should point out, I do think there are more constructive ways to protest religion than burning holy books. And, if the members of that church are sending their children to school wearing anti-Islam t-shirts, it is good the school switched to uniforms. (I tend to support uniforms at school everywhere.) Those kids, depending upon their age, are likely just little atheists in the process of being corrupted by faith.

  8. If the fire isn't hot enough burn some bibles and torahs. Who cares? What is most disturbing is how quickly people jump to defend the muslims because they may be offended and do something bad to American troops. The troops quite frankly can handle themselves not withstanding the State Department's bleatings. Insult all religioons, especially the ones who find this act so important. They should get used to being made fun of. It is good for them. How else will they learn?

This is just a symbolic act. Look how all the dhimmis quickly exhibit fear. Islam is an institution. It isn't people. Protect people not islam.

  9. I suggest a scientific study. My hypothesis is that it will burn better if bibles are added. Please try to falsify.

  10. @Will Fuqua:

I agree. But isn't it hypocritical to burn American flags and chant "Death to America!" as a response? I don't know if that's what's being chanted in this video but I've read that elsewhere it is. Is it fair to condemn all of us for the actions of a few?

  11. I do agree with tlawren on this one. I agree with neither side on this one, but I think the outrage should be about the fear of retaliation when someone speaks their view, not that some minister may have a less then balanced view of the world.

Do I think it's a smart thing to burn the Koran? Certainly not, but I'll defend his right to do so.

I have no fear of offending the rabid dog. What i'm afraid of is the idiots that buy into this Christian vs. Muslim zeitgeist. There is no good outcome possible by one faith burning another's holy book.

All religions and mythologies should be eaqually extradited by modern society

Both actions stunts stink but what is worse:

The burning of a book based on a political ideaology and faith
    or
The burning of an effigy of an actual human being.

  14. Burning an American flag? I agree, FUCK innocent people!

What a bunch of fags, seriously. Who cares what these dipshits do, I'm on the winning team. Seriously, my country is skull fucking your country.

And now for the liberals to reply...

  15. By burning an American flag with the effigy, isn't this particular group of people (who happen to be Muslims) actually *mirroring* that which you're against?

  16. Yeah, China must be making a fortune!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes! I imagine the factory bosses of Guangzhou and Shenzhen must be smiling over their sales books.

Also, I would like to say how much of a shit effigy that thing is. Look at it! All they did was tape pictures printed out on a black and white laser printer to a box they then stuck on top of a crappy stuffed suit. Shit's GHETTO!

If you want to see a real effigy, look at pakistan! Especially those guys from Waziristan with the old Bush effigies! They had paper mache heads and everything. They know how to do it up! And the guy in this vid with a single sheet of A4 that says "Florida church stop barking of your pop,"??? Bro, I don't even know what the fuck that MIGHT mean! Getsho shit together Afghanistan!

  18. Because you can always make the claim that not everyone who practices a certain religion is a fundamentalist, we should simply judge a religion based on its core tenants or scriptures and not its broad followers. For Islam, the religion has at the center of it a barbaric mesh of dogma which isn't worth susatining and therefore isn't worthy of suspect - even if some of its followers are.

Not every Nazi was an evil lunatic, but they nonetheless followed a corrupt system. Religion is often the same way and should be judged as such.

  19. This guy has his first amendment right to be a jerk too guys.

And personally I love it when muslims,no make that religious people, get offended.

  20. You're not worth the time.

  21. You guys should go there and chuck a few King James bibles in the fire as well. You have exactly the same rights as these lunatics do, so why not go there and really express yourselves? Now, whether the 'prince of peace', 'do unto others' crowd realizes that you are expressing your interpretation of their own oppinions lets you get away with it harm-free...? Well, that's only for god to judge, eh?

  24. If all the US high-school students who have access to a sewing machine and know how to use it got busy making flags, we could have a couple of dozen flags ready to go by Saturday.

  30. Strange computer behavior...
I pushed "Post" (just once), it tried 3 times, then reported failure.
Apparently it had succeeded, each time.
Equally strange, if I click on one of the posts above, it claims I am logged in as someone else entirely, via twitter.

  36. Heheh I loved the crude Photoshopping of the low-res image of the pastor's face (to make him appear more satanic?).

    Yup that's one lame effigy!

I remember images of Sinnead O´Conner CD´s strewn out on a street being crushed by an angry mob of Catholics. This was New York 1993 after she had torn up a picture of John Paul II on SNL. "Fight the real enemy"
