  1. "He coulda been President".

Bill should know better.  It's going to be some time before we get an atheist president.  At least one unwilling to be in the closet about that particular aspect of his life.

The funeral bit resonated with me.  My grandmother was an atheist, and yet her funeral was full of religious platitudes.  I wasn't quite so poetic as Richard Tillman, but I did get up and make sure respect for her view was not lost.

  2. I know the feeling, Rich. I had a cousin die in a car accident a couple of years ago. He was religious, so I wouldn't have said anything, especially with my grieving aunt and uncle there. However, I had to bite my tongue, hard, when the pastor at his funeral said that he died because he was a sinner... No, you fuckwit, he died because his little Saturn hit an F150 head-on and lost.

  3. The behavior of ministers and pastors at funerals has angered me so much in the past that I now refuse to attend funerals that are of a religious nature.  I'm there to mourn, not listen to propaganda,  When you watch the behavior of a godmonger at a funeral, you really see thw whole reason religion thrives laid bare before you as the godmonger takes the opportinity to say "Now that they're at their most vulnerable I'll swoop in and hit them with my strongest sales pitch - now;s the perfect time while they're weak and grasping for some comfort and therefore willing to believe anything.... It sickens me the way they swoop in like vultures at funerals to pretend to know where someone is in an afterlife when they never even MET the person they're giving the service for.

  6. I am so sick of hearing about how they burned his uniform and equipment.  Its standard procedure to destroy blood soaked uniforms and equipment as medical waste.  I am sick of hearing it spun as if some kind of evil conspiracy of nefarious Soldiers destroyed evidence.
