  3. "It's basically by faith..."

Yes indeed, faith brings delusions. From one perspective, faith is very bad epistemology; from another perspective, it's a psychopathology. Morally, it's a vice.

  4. I also applaud anyone who brings up this subject, as it just shows how completely out of touch with the world these people are. Better to read tea leaves.

On another matter: I just saw PZ Meyers give talk today in one of the bible belt areas of BC (Abbotsford) at the University of the Fraser Valley.  Well spoken presentation posing the question: What has religion ever got right about the world? Answer: Absolutely nothing ..... say it again.

He is out at UBC in Vancouver tonight with a talk regarding what it means to be an atheist. Hopefully both of these will appear on youtuibe and maybe here someday.

  5. Holy crap! It's gets worse. Going to the wecanknow.com website shown on the sign, we find this on the home page: (emphasis mine)

"This web site serves as an introduction and portal to four faithful ministries which are teaching that WE CAN KNOW from the Bible alone that the date of the rapture of believers will take place on May 21, 2011 and that God will destroy this world on October 21, 2011."

  6. Later, in the same paragraph, we find: (emphasis mine)

"Study the proofs that God has so graciously given in His Word showing us that these dates are 100% accurate and beyond dispute."

  7. "Absolutely nothing..."

Really sad too: just one little gospel with some good science in it could have really helped.  Instead of the germ theory, we got the creation myth; how pathetic. Geez, if he could create and flood the world, he surely could have stocked entire libraries with science books. Something doesn't add up!

  8. I'd love to spend that day with her, grinning all the time, helping her with her grocery bags, mow her lawn, then wishing her a good night on midnight, the grin extending to something Jesus himself would be proud of.

  9. The scary thing is that people with this glorified view of the end of the world, who LIKE the idea of the end of the world, and who think it's their duty to make sure every knows it's occurring, are in high ranking positions in the military where they have the means to help make it a self-fuflllying prophecy.

  12. She's going to feel really stupid on May 22. Especially when the bill collectors come calling.
