  1. Million to one that she's got the SLIGHTEST clue that he's riffing on Einstein's doubts about quantum physics when he originally said "god does not play dice", by making a reference to theorized information loss in black hole. No, billion to one.

  2. "For more childhood photos click here and here?"

I mean, it is remarkable how he did the work he did with his condition, but shouldn't his private life be insignificant to his scientific contributions?

  3. yeah, she's such an idiot.  do you hear yourself?  could you be any more of an elitist?    ignorance in and of itself is not bad, it's the refusal to gain knowledge because it might offend presupposed notions that is the real enemy here.  people like diane sawyer are doing the world a favor by treating a freethinking man like stephen hawking like a human being worthy of the affection of his family and respect of humanity.  so i'm willing to let her slide if she hasn't got her mind wrapped completely around everything he says.

I suppose it's theoretically possible, in the same way that it's POSSIBLE for you to be more unlettered; rather improbable though. 'People like Diane Sawyer' would be doing the world a favor if they took their vapid ramblings to E! and let real journalists take their place.

  7. This video may not go into depth about research, but I cannot see why it is so bad. Is it because you do not like Diane Sawyer? Did Stephen Hawking complain about the questions he was asked?

  8. If you arne't inspired by his personal struggle, that's fine.  Other people are, and if it gets them interested in science and asking deep introspective questions, all the better.

  9. No, I am not particularly taken with Ms. Sawyer. She's an intellectual lightweight and when not doing the news totally smashed or interviews with Lady Gaga or the Pets.com sock puppet (remember that?), she apparently enjoys finding random quotes from her atheist interviewees that include the word "god" so she can use them as an excuse to get all mystical about things that are totally unrelated to subject at hand. If you're lucky enough to acquire a "get" like Hawking, you put a SERIOUS journalist on the job not some cut rate Barbara Walters.

  10. I don't like the way Diane Sawyer talks to him like he's a baby.

  11. It may have been a diversion from the usual shop talk, but it was an enjoyable one. Hawking proves to be an interesting person even without the physicist hat on.
