Am I a lunatic or the civilized world becomes more and more impotent, tasteless, ignorant and dumb slut?

2. I think there's no doubt this mosque plan is intended to on a surface level 'proof' NYC is 'isalm friendly'. Below that surface the mosque is probably hoped to be a 'plane-proof barrier' against another attack at the same sight...if they ever build that 'freedom tower' or whatever's in the works by now.

This mosque won't do that and no doubt be its own target for any anti-islamic american nationalist/terrorist, but the bottom line is that it's mainly about Capitalism and a 'buck's a buck' here. We'll whore our grandma out for the right price and a religion wanted to build here and said 'here's some money' and we said 'deal'.
Also.. I WISH people would STOP saying 'ground zero'. This is a term for the site of a NUKE blowing up. For how bad 9/11...it is nothing compared to a islamo-fascist making a 'dirty bomb' going off in NYC. We should ALL remember that they'd LOVE to do that and what that would look like!

4. its a mosque on one floor of a multi-story building (quite close but not on ground zero), other floors will contain all types of shops. I can't see how anyone can object to it (hundreds of Muslims died on 9/11), all they can do is suggest to the people who thought of it that some people might be offended. Another objection that could be justifiable is if people who supported 9/11 were involved in this mosquue or were planning on preaching hate in future.
People involved asked (they were not required to) local politicians first who approved and now it will be built. If you can't distinguish between different groups within muslims and want to punish them all, you are just an ignorant extremist (when you try to punish all muslims, you alienate moderates and increase number of extremists).
To claim that Islam is opposed to western values is a dead point, almost all religions (especially all monothiestic religions) are opposed to western values (just look at bible, old testament and quran, among these 3 quran is the least violent book. Muslims in this generation are far more violent than their counter-parts, which have shown extreme savagery in the past, when they had strong faith).

5. Thank you for the spam spk1.

My only problem is that these Muslims purposefully built this mosque near the WTC knowing perfectly well that this would insult many Americans. This is similar to how Muslims purposefully built a mosque in Rome with a minaret bigger than the top of Saint Peter's Basilica knowing that it would insult the 1 billion Catholics in this world.

Just because they can do this does not mean that they should; and this insult to many Americans will extend the bridge between Muslims and the average American, not shrink it.

6. This guy is a right-wing nutjob. He's on par with Fred Phelps for the type of bile he spews from his mouth -- however eloquent it sounds.

The Muslims building this are some of the most liberal, and Americanized in the world. These are the ones on the side of civilization, not with the barbarians that perpetrated 9/11. I, personally, think this is a huge fuck you to the radical Islamists of the rest of the world. Welcome to the melting pot. We accept everyone, even the brown-skinned ones.

These right-wing idiots need to stop conjuring up enemies.

9. There was a time when Pat Condell was my favorite YouTube commenter, but that was when he was funny and angry. Now he's just angry, and he's only angry at Muslims. It's been sad for me to watch this once brilliant man slide into predictable anti-Muslim rants.

10. For a guy who gave a 6 minute rant that all muslims are bad, ending that rant with "God bless the Kufa

11. It is kufar not kufa  which means infidels :)

12. Can you stop featuring this closet racist on your site?
You'll get more education/entertainment value from the responses he got, if anything.

13. I can't believe all this anti-Pat animosity ! Seriously, all the classic soft, apologist opinions are here... he's a racist ! the mosque will show unity ! Take it from this Brit, Pat is right. There is nothing racist in any of Pat's videos and I challenge anyone of you to find anything to support your view. Islam is not a race. Jeez, this is the atheist media blog, you really shouldn't need telling this stuff...

14. I'm with you David. Condell is only telling it straight.

15. Pat, a "nutter"?! I don't think so. I find the concept of building a mosque near the 9/11 attack site quite offensive myself. I'm sick and tired of how we do seem to be so Islamic friendly and pc. It's has nothing go do with racism at all. They seem to be held to a different set of rules. We can't talk bad or show their dirty wizard Mohammed for fear of something bad happening, bullshit. And as for Pat spewing bile, all he's doing is saying what every one else is really thinking. People aren't angry enough, I'm with Pat 100%. we need some good ol fashion hatemongering.

16. I think its a simply daft idea to build a mosque neat ground zero, but I also thing Pat is an angry racist. If he is not a racist, he is a xenaphobe. The guy has finally been seen for what he is and angry bitter old man.

17. To build a mosque at Ground Zero seems to me a final and crowning "up yours!!" to all those who died and those who lost loved ones at the hands of crazies who "did it for Allah". I cannot conceive of what sort of thinking would inagine that to be acceptable. It is beyond insulting and totally arrogant and contemptible. I totally agree with Pat.

18. what about all those muslims who died at ground zero? are you saying that ALL muslims are extremists? Remember that asian kid who shot all his fellow students, who was christian and compared himself to jesus? should we remove all churches from near that Uni now as its 'insulting' to those that arent christians? it maybe a little distasteful, but only to those who refuse to think. what about your constitution? also, are you saying that there are no muclism in the world that condem the 9/11 attacks? that ALL muslims are terrorists? please before you end up making the world a dumber place - start using your nogging.

19. I like other videos of his but this one is really off the mark and quite ignorant. I am a New Yorker. I watched the towers fall from my bedroom window. I lived with ash and smoke for months. I am an atheist. I am anti-relgion in general and especially anti-muslim but I am 100% IN FAVOR of the mosque. It is exactly what this country is supposed to stand for - allowing freedom of religion and the rights of citizens. They should not be allowed to have a mosque near ground zero? Why? How far away is far enough? What other religions, beliefs or ethnicities will be restricted next and by whom? What an incredibly dangerous and near-sighted path to go down. Frankly I am shocked that this video and it's opinion is posted on this site (one of my favorite blogs BTW.)

21. Islam; convert all that are not to Islam and kill those that won't covert. That was told to me by an Iranian American who lived in Iran for 30 years before he came to America. He was a business owner and father of three who didn't want his children growing up in the same atmosphere that he was subjected to.

22. How can you call yourself an atheist and be "anti-religion in general" but "It is exactly what this country is supposed to stand for - allowing freedom of religion and the rights of citizens. They should not be allowed to have a mosque near ground zero? Why? How far away is far enough? What other religions, beliefs or ethnicities will be restricted"

I am a non-theist and am against all religion, what they suck from people. The fact that they rake in billion$ and know that there is no such thing as a god. Any person with a knowledge of history knows that it was all made up by the Catholics and Jews. There just isn't enough space here to list all but one is Augustine created Heaven and Hell.

I agree with Pat Condell about his views on Islam. Islam is evil and Muslims who impose their way of thinking anywhere else should be deported. Criticizing Islam is not racist, but fair. I am sick and tired of Muslims trying to take all over the world. It's time for the left to stop being blind, irresponsible and politically correct.
