Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy takes on a terrifying question: How does the Taliban convince children to become suicide bombers? Propaganda footage from a training camp is intercut with her interviews of young camp graduates. A shocking vision.
Somebody needs to splice scenes from Jesus Camp into this video to point out some of the parallels.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually in the process of doing just that as part of the Indoctrination section of my upcoming website. There are much more disturbing videos in relation to this that will end up being incorporated.

bloody hell- these taliban bastards piss me off poor kids being ticked into killing themselves
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder what these suicide bombers think they are doing (they are going to paradise). What about their own people they are killing (are they going to paradise too?). I wonder what the Taliban say to the bombers regarding those particular people need to be blown to bits?
ReplyDeleteI don't think the questions should be so much for the Taliban as for us. If just one child died in our country due to a foreign army, the uproar would be deafening. Yet, that same act happens day in and day out in Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan. Is there any wonder we see this reaction?
ReplyDeleteGranted, there are some serious issues that arise due to the role of Islam in all of this. But the deaths of civilians in this war is to me the primary cause of the Taliban's continued success.
Screenplay, Richard Wenk, based on the television series designed by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.
