4. WTF was that all about. I love how instead of challenging the idiotic assertion that students would no longer learn about the Alamo or Martin Luther King, the idiot "journalist" just nods his head and says "Good point". NO! They're not good points. They're MORONIC points.

5. Fox is allowing the theist liars to run roughshod over the truth - as usual. Notice how they carefully avoided mentioning that the SBOE will remove Thomas Jefferson from the world history curriculum. Seems some SBOE members think he wasn't an important Enlightenment thinker. They are also elevating the importance of conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly, Pat Buchanan, & Rush Limbaugh, while diminishing the importance of the Civil Rights movement. The fact that they mentioned MLK just makes the irony a little richer.

6. Is this here to remind us how smart we are?

7. How was the fact that he was a Marine and the father of children relevant? This is a rhetorical question of course, it isn't relevant, other than to tug on the conservative heart strings.

8. We really are a divided nation. I see the far religious right as a seperate country that is slowly taking over the US

9. I'm the father of four as well...and that has absolutely fucking nothing to do with anything.

12. I really don't think they're taking over. I think the core religious faith is being eroded significantly and the squeaky wheels are what we're seeing in the mainstream at the moment.

I also think it's a lie when they quote those 'numbers' of people that are religious. When I was going to school and filling out paper work, they always asked my religion, and I put down the church my parents went to. It didn't change the fact that I didn't believe it. At the time, I didn't know I had a right to 'believe' something else.

I think it's pretty plain to see that religion is dying as they are imploding from the inside out. Whether it's the stupid thoughts that evangelicals vomit out of their mouth or the 'religious' nut jobs with bombs strapped to their backs in Pakistan, Afganistan, or Iraq. It's all the same and they are destroying the moderate belief that their religion is 'good'...

Is there an island in the South Pacific that could use a few thousand semi-enlightened ex-pats? New Zealand perhaps? Faux Noise and their target audience make me want to leave the country to these fools, and take as much of academia as will come with me (anyone else who is completely disgusted is welcome to tag along, you're only being left our for lack of convenient label).

14. Atheists don't want to "censor" history we just want the truth. What we're seeing in the TBOSE is revisionist history with a bent on current conservative politics. Is the truth so much to ask for?

ReplyDelete
15. And why do they think current conservative politics has anything to do with history? They have done nothing in this country but make the fundies feel like they're correct in their fairy tale beliefs.

We don't want to censor. We just want 'real' history taught to kids. What this great country was really built on.

If it really was built on Judeo/Christian ideals, there is no WAY we'd have separation of church and state. How can they not see that?

16. Liberty Institute, another "Liberty" something or another, like Liberty University of Jerry Falwell fame, is actually not at all interested in any form of liberty for anyone other than Christians to enforce their agenda on the rest of us. Cluster Fox & Fiends isn't even as fair and balanced as the Texas SBOE and with that Dentist, Don McLeroy, that's sayin' somethin'!

21. I was waiting for the second guy to be introduced to make a ounter argument, and then he's just like, "I have four kids and am studying to be a social studies teacher."

Words can not describe the stupidity.
