Makes me want to throw up. Really? The Bible is the history book of the universe? Ummm... There are billions and billions and billions........ of universes out there. Can you explain that? Argh...
I look forward to the generation when everyone will look back upon this stuff and cringe, wondering how people could have possibly believed such nonsense and freely brainwash our children with it.
If it cheers anyone up I grew up just like these kids, ingrained with a certianty the bible was perfect and infalable. As such all it took was one reading of the bible to shatter that faith forever. I think that if I had been raised with a more moderate, nebulous view of the bible I might still be christian.
Like Neil I grew up Creationist and it squashed my interest in science. We were told quite explicitly that it was sinful to even open a book on evolution "insulting to your God, family and community" and not to listen too much to science teachers. Now they pretend they are simply examining an alternative view but in reality they are ignorant bullies. They don't represent most Christians either. But I dumped the lot.
Ignorant woman at 1:17 says her beliefs are at odds with mainstream, she readily admits that her ignorance isn't in the majority, and she goes on to say that because she is too ignorant to understand evolution, then her children should be denied the chance of a decent education, instead she allows them to be indoctrinated with Ken Ham's bull crap.
Being stupid is one theing, but forcing that stupidity on children is no less than abuse.
Just to think of it... They are trying to arrest the pope when he comes to UK. Why not to arrest this brainless bastard on child abuse charges ? At least - try to arrest him. For the world to see.
Unbelievable brainwashing ignoramuses. Contemptible anti-science propoganda and lies! Does anyone see me having a tax-exempt seminar for children educating them on the FACT of the evolution of mankind and all modern species, which is INCOMPATIBLE with creationism, let alone the f'ing bible?!!!
"Scientists think you came from some sought of ape-like creature"
No, actually I'd go as far as to say we ARE apes.. not descendents of ape like creatures.. apes.. closer genetically to chimps than chimps are to orangutangs. Evolution is amazing.. I wish some could see that.
This remind me of my childhood :-D Thank god (*wink* *wink*) I was fascinated with astronomy, biology so I started doubting the bible Now I'm an atheist
I love how these people claim that their god "wrote the bible". I could just imagine him with a legal pad and pencil - writing and re-writing different passages....tossing crumpled sheets, getting writer's block....
My parents tried to infect me with this kind of religion, but after church they would set me in front of the T.V so that they could get things done. little did they know i was watching Carl Sagan, and all kinds of science stuff on PBS.they thought it was all sesame street. HA!i am a well adjusted adult now,and i resisted the infection.thank you Mr Sagan where ever you are 8-) .
"Cuz I'm 5 years old, don't understand the theory in any real sense, and I have been terrified by my parents and pastor with threats of an eternity in hell if I even think about it."
I disagree with what was said in the video. However this is not brainwashing and it certainly isn't criminal. Please stop saying this is a crime. It makes you as ignorant as creationists.
What kind of twisted logic are you able to make a claim that this is NOT brain washing?
One of the first things religion teaches is: Heaven and Hell. Can you even comprehend how scary this is to a child? Idiot!
They do this to take the upper hand in EVERYTHING they say. The children have NO CHOICE but to believe them...
Teaching children that they are going to go to HELL if they don't listen to an adult IS CHILD ABUSE, BRAINWASHING, AND NEEDS TO STOP!
In a sane society it would be illegal. Alas, we are not so fortunate to live in a sane society. However, we're getting closer and closer everyday... No thanks to religion. (They couldn't even get slavery right, how can anyone expect them to get anything else right?)
I think it certainly is brainwashing, it is an explicit attempt to harden the minds of these children towards otherwise strongly supported and evidence-based knowledge of evolution. Whether they succeed is questionable although some success must occur considering the people bringing their children to these seminars and events, not to mention the people conducting them.
Criminal, perhaps not in a legal sense but often I've heard the word 'criminal' in a more colloquial context of simply being outrageous and something that should be criminal. It is worth considering many of the people visiting this website are not necessarily American (as you may not be yourself) and approach this with a different context.
As far a I'm concerned this is a deliberate attempt to subvert extablished fact with supernatural fantasy based on an old (although not as old as they claim) collection of books from a source far from supernatural. I don't care if they genuinely believe what they are doing is right, I can demonstrably prove them to be wrong and the impact of their activities as harmful. As far as I'm concerned this is criminally negligent brainwashing, even if the law does not support me.
I'm American and the world thinking we're 80% religious (like these clowns) is complete nonsense. Most of the people I know are NOT religious. Or they're just non-thinkers and don't care but don't go to church.
America is not 80% religious (probably closer to 50%, but most people don't think enough about it) and I wish these religious 'right' would quite perpetrating that false 'rumor' too.
I just couldn't see this disgusting clip to the finish. Telling a story to children that have absolutly zero evidens to support it, ought to be criminal.
1.23: This says it all. -when you look at the bible, and you look at evidence, scientific evidence. it make sense. Beleives that the earth is 6000 years and still turns to science. What?? Ok, maybe she's like Yogi. Smarter than the average bear. But still..
Threatening someone with violence is a criminal offence. And if threatening someone with eternal suffering and torture doesnt fall under this category I dont know what does.
If we take away this parent's rights to brainwahs their kids then the Christians could take away our right to teach evolution. Teach your kids the truith, but leave the statist rhetoric out of this.
The scariest thing in that clip was the little boy from 0:49-0:52. I can see it in his face that he is literally being sucked into the black hole of Ham's bullshit.
The lady from 1:07-1:36 is convinced that whatever is easiest to explain to children is the truth that adults should adhere to.
What? That didn't make sense at all! Don't take away these people's right to teach the stork theory, because then they could take away our right to teach human reproduction. Don't take away these people's right to teach astrology because then they could take away our right to teach astronomy. Don't take away these people's right to teach alchemy, because then they could take away our rights to teach chemistry... Nonsense fairy tales has no place in school... period!!! It should have nothing to do with rights at all.
I think it is the authorities of the areas where these mass-brainwash events take place that should be held responsible for it. Because they clearly fail to act upon it while such large events had to be anounced in some way before actually taking place. I know for a fact that this is illegal in my country (Belgium) and in most Western European countries. It's even illegal to teach creationism at schools here. You can't blame large groups, of clearly not so educated parents, being prone to this kind of voodoo if authorities remain completely ignorant towards it.
We have a constitution that protects us from that sort of persecution. In America we do not arrest people for exercising their first amendment rights. Now I know that there are a lot of people on here posting that these people should be arrested. I can only hope that they are not Americans. Because if they are Americans they are as ignorant as Ken Ham.
So indoctrination of minors falls under exercising their first amendment? And isn't it also your constitution that allows capital punishment, bans gay marriages, bans stemcell research, allows texan schools to teach children we walked with dinosaurs 2000 years ago, allows the torture of political prisoners? And isn't it the US that up until today refuses to recognize any international court or law, and up until today refuses to undersign an international convention on the rights of the child?YES IT IS! So really your whole constitution might be up for a review. We live after all in the 21st century.
The thing that really got me was the question "will you believe the scientists or God?" (read "the sientists or me?") As if proposing that the bible, (and not just the bible but this ignorant interpretation of it), was necessarily the word of God. As if the connection between the idea of a God and these people's notion of it was one and the same. I don't believe in any God but the concept can be defended to some extent, what is absolutely indefensible is the religious constructs that parasitize and overtake the notion of a God that may have created something.
What Christians are doing really fit into the "Seven Common Propaganda Techniques" found in this website. Really insightful as to what insiduous methods they are using to brainwash our next generation of kids... Link: http://www.doshdosh.com/the-art-of-propaganda-seven-common-techniques/
I do believe in creationism. And as I raise my 4 children, they are not oblivious that there is another theory called Evolution. They have researched both Evolution and Creationism and I hope as they develop and grow in their relationship with God, that will know in their heart the truth. I'm sorry for those of you who said I would still be a christian today, if only. It's amazing how as a Christian, I teach my children both but in school there is no such objectivity. Why can't both be taught? The proof is still not in for the big bang theory. And there are many degreed scientists who can show you the discrepancies. Not just people who are uneducated, Bible thumpers.
