Ironic that this is being posted by TOWNHALL.com. An organization so wacked out on conservative christianity that they're willing to get in bed with an atheist if it means somehow punishing those evil, heathen, (non-protestant) catholics. Strange bedfellows. Not that I'm complaining mind, from what I can tell, extreme right wing christians tend to be pretty freaky in that department!
How do you contact the admin of atheistmedia??? I want to submit a video that I think should be posted. MMA fighter Jason 'Mayhem' Miller and host of MTV's Bully Beatdown is interviewed by a socially akward Mormon. Miller says he is a devout atheist and hilarity ensues.
If the popes had a direct line to their invisible sky daddy, they should have seen this trouble coming years ago, and put a stop to it (the abuse of course). That the vatican is surprised either means that sky daddy didn't warn them, or he the popes lied about having a direct line to him.
International law is non-existant. It's somethign which groups of powerful nations like to pretend exists only when it's convenient to them. This is not one of those situations.
Pinochetgot off scott free. They arrested him and claimed international law and some other bs, but he was never ocnvicted. he evaded trial after tiral for years and died of old age. Saddam was about Bugh Jr. having a personal vendetta and trying to justify our bs occupation of Iraq. International law? Just another lie used by those in power to pretend that they care about the little people.
Meh, I'm not liking your attitude to this at all Andrew as it is so defeatist. I'm personally all for trying...and as Dawkins has said at least it will bring attention to the matter.
And if it builds up emotions..good. This story just shouldn't go away as quickly as it usually does as it certainly seems to go all the way to the top.
I agree! Even if it doesn't work, managing to arrest the pope alone would send a really powerful message of that we are not prepared to accept anymore that you can remain above the law just because you are a religious big poppa! I'm rather much the pessimist, I admit, but not a defeatist. I don't really think anything real will come of this, sadly I don't think the pope have anything to worry about no matter how much it angers me, and sadly I don't think there will be a mass escape of catholics from the catholic church either. But I do believe that what ever can be done should be done here, and that, yes, the attention will be worth it, if nothing else. It might, in the long run, at least be a part of a slow wearing down of this horrible institution!
I see where you guys are coming from, and if I didn't think that this was playing into the Catholic church's narrative of victimization and persecution, I'd agree that the press would be good, even if nothign came of it. I just figure it will be picked up by FOX to make atheists look bad and not by any of the other stations.
Poor simplistic atheists - they know nothing about the law (and much less about history) - get some basic education then you can post your dumb-shit ideas - and they say that religious folk are morons. Well, we have excellent company from the likes of Dawkins and secularists
I would not live in your world or Hitchins' if you tortured me! The RC church is still the safesty place for kids anywhere! 99.6 % of priests in the last 40 yrs have never had any allegaton against them. Most allegations are malicious and most come conveniently late, ie when the priests have died or evidence vanished. Try reading the Pope's autobiography, try actually finding some media coverage of the real facts and what the church is actually doing since 2001 to eradicate these few perverts, you would be surprised you fools.
We should no more arrest Tatchel or Hitchens for Sodomy than the Pope, for the evil deeds of a tiny number of perverted priests! He might have tried to deal 'in house' and this may have been misguided but a criminal he is not!
Hitchens and his ilk are hypocrits but more than this they are evil perverts, they ride the wave of liberal debauchery that is poisoning our society, he screams his propoganda to fools, to hide his own stinking and thunderous flatulence!
Fukken brilliant! Go Hitch go!!!

ReplyDeleteThe Vatican is its own country. Not possible. This is just preaching to the choir trying to build up emotions. Come on Hitch, you're better than this.
ReplyDeleteDoes any1 else think these guys arent rly pedofiles but they just need a drain that probably wont say anything?
ReplyDeleteIf they do arrest the Pope, please, please let Gene Hunt do it.
ReplyDeleteIs there no international law under which the Pope can be tried?
