Christian Filmmaker Claims to Have Found Noah's Ark

April 28, 2010 on ABC News:
A new claim by an evangelical Christian filmmaker and Turkish scientists that Noah's Ark has been found encased in ice on Mount Ararat has been met with equal parts excitement and skepticism.
Expedition crew in Turkey is 99.9 percent sure it's uncovered the remains.

Yeung Wing-Cheung of Hong Kong said he is "99 percent" sure the wooden structure he filmed along with Turkish scientists and archeologists is the remnants of the famed ark God instructed Noah to build to save himself and the world's animals from an epic flood.

  2. I like that it says "Experts are '99.9%' sure" at the bottom of the screen the whole time... Experts? It makes it sound like some independent group of people analyzed all the data...

  3. This guy is either lying for Jesus or conning for profit. Can't say that either option sounds very ethical to me.

  7. Stupidest question from the host:  "For the moment let's just set aside the probability that this is indeed Noah's Ark.  How do you go about determining, verifying what the explorers claim they have discovered?"

Uhhmmm.....  Huh?  That, to me, sounds like "ignoring X for a moment, how do you do X?"

  10. Curiously, despite many hoaxes such as this one, people will think "well one of them must be real" as opposed to "well they must all be LIARS"

  11. I'm sure there are plenty of people eating all this up, but when it comes down to it there's a lot of things that need explaining when it comes to Noah's Ark.  The main question I want answered is how could the biodiversity from only two of each species create what we have today?  If the story of Noah's Ark is true, then are all living things a product of incest?  And what of all the insects?  Were the current existing species of insects taken aboard?

I also have to ask if God failed as a creator.  He knows all, so shouldn't he have known everyone would become evil even before creation?  He did create everything, so how could he ultimately blame the players in a card game he rigged himself?  When things don't add up, that a lot of times means it's not correct.  Hint hint theists.

  12. Yeah, you get one of these every few years. The worst part is that I know plenty of clergy and this crap is completely cynical, they hoax fake relics and miracles to promote faith in a religion they really don't believe in. Really. I know one particular Mother Superior who told me she applied fake blood to a statue of the Virgin Mary to "inspire the sisters" even though she didn't believe in th Virgin Birth.
