Rowan Williams's comments on Vatican handling of sex abuse scandal likely to further cloud pope's upcoming UK trip.
Church leaders in Ireland have condemned the archbishop of Canterbury after he said the country's Catholic church has lost "all credibility" because of its poor handling of the scandal of paedophile priests.
Dr Rowan Williams said the child sex abuse scandal that has engulfed the Catholic church had been a "colossal trauma" for Ireland in particular.

ReplyDeleteOkay Rowan Williams briefly broke ranks and was quickly brought back in line. Mustn't start criticising sister religions because if they start fighting back goodness knows where it will all end!!
ReplyDeleteThe Catholics are still not "singing from the same hymn sheet" - describing the sex abuse crisis as "serious sins" or "petty gossip". Did you notice that the comments that come from closer to the vatican have the thickest layer of whitewash?
Now the Church of England is promoting the view that Christians are being persecuted - the BBC (public broadcaster) has aired a programme tonight called: "Are Christians being Persecuted?" - no-one from the National Secular Society was invited to take part to give the secular viewpoint. BBC cannot do balanced religious broadcasting, it only promotes this rubbish.
