1. I didn't think that I'll actually agree on something with O'Reilly, but it happened...

2. I know, I feel the same. He actually sounded sane and reasonable!

3. O'Reilly sounds sane only in comparison with Father Morris

4. why do they keep saying 'it's complicated' 'it's very tough question', etc?
that school is medieval, bigot and wicked, it is as simple as that

5. What's outrageous is that lesbians would send their kids to a mind-warping superstitious school.

6. It's only when you bring someone as ignorant and crazy as Father Morris in the picture that Bill becomes the voice of reason. I never thought I'd see two Fox icons disputing.

7. Why does religions always want to make things complicated? It is simple, the Catholic church is being hypocritical so either stop it, or admit the hypocracy!

What is scary for me is that the Catholic Church in the province of Ontario, canada is actually publically funded!

8. It is publiclly funded but because of it non-catholics can go to the schools as well. ALthough I don't think the catholic school board should exist at all let alone get funding.

9. Bill didn't seem especially reasonable to me. In fact he merely hid his homophobia behind the statement that "the kids shouldn't be punished" for the parents behaviour. He suggests the children are blameless but makes no accedence to the rights of homosexuals as people or parents. Encouraging quiet homosexuality is hardly reasonable.

But as others have pointed out, he definitely seemed relatively sane in comparison to his usual ramblings. And to the ramblings of Father Morris.

10. Ezekiel 18
1 The word of the LORD came to me:
2 "What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel:
" 'The fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'?
3 "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel.
4 For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son—both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.

Well, someone doesn't know their scripture... Children aren't to be held accountable by the 'sins' of their parents.

11. (By 'someone', I meant the school. Just to clarify.)

12. I agree with him that the kids shouldn't be expelled, but his reasoning, that the children are "innocent" of their parents "sins" is horrid.

That's no defence of the lesbian couple - it almost calls the kids victims for being the couple's children.

Not only that, but it implies that a gay kid (lets fast forward to say, aged 13+, when this is relevant), *should* be able to be expelled from Catholic school, which means Catholic schools should be allowed to discriminate based on sexuality.

13. I'm with Jonathan Morris on this. Again that is EXACTLY what the bible says about what it says are immoral unions and the primary function of the school is to teach the catholic faith. He is not being a hypocrite here. It is the apologists like Bill O'Reilly who blur the issue here saying that the bible doesn't really mean that.

YES IT DOES!!

And that is exactly why these backward institutions need to be held to account.

14. Father Morris is earning his salary in a decent and loyal way. What's wrong with that? When in Rome...
There is a long way up to go in the church hierarchy for father Morris ( maybe a future bishop, a cardinal...Who knows?). He's not going to jeopardize such bright perspective by condemning a catholic institution.

As of our good, ol’ Bill the Magnificent Bigot?
An opportunity ( an unexpected gift sent from heaven) for him to show to the world that he as objective in his opinions as Dalai Lama himself. Christianity or not – Bill is ALWAYS telling as it is ! He will keep this video clip forever and show it to his grandchildren as a sample of his legendary integrity.

Peace

15. Can someone remind me how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? It's certainly more important than this foolish policy.

I suspect this case has stirred Bill because his children could risk being expelled from Catholic School based on his
indecent behaviour (pervy) towards a ex co-worker at Fox. He is a sinner as he so rightly says.

I also agree with the other comments, he is manipulating viewers into thinking that he is unbiased, objective and reasonable.

What I don´t get is why the same sex couple sent their kid to a religious school.

18. An acquaintance of mine married (suspecting he was gay), had two kids, came out a few years ago. Kids are something like 15 and 13 now. He's Italian and majorly Catholic. STILL majorly Catholic! We live in Ontario, Canada. His wife converted to Catholicism before marriage, and still considers herself a good Catholic. His kids go to Catholic school.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: you can still be religious and be gay at the same time. I don't effin' get it, but there you have it.

19. Fr. Morris is the biggest pushover ever. You can tell he doesn't agree with the church's policy on this issue, but sticks by them anyway, even though he knows they're wrong.

ReplyDelete
20. I love how Morris says "they're great questions," and then doesn't even answer them... how can anyone not laugh at such blatant dodging?

Still, watching two Catholics argue about something stupid like this is hilarious.

21. As well as Ezekiel 18, more quotes to show the inconsistency of the Bible

Genesis 9:21-25 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father .... And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan [Ham's son]; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. Genesis 20:18 The LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife. Exodus 20:5 , Deuteronomy 5:9 I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. Exodus 34:7 Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children unto the third and to the fourth generation. Numbers 14:18 Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. Deuteronomy 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD. Deuteronomy 28:18 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body. 1 Samuel 3:12-13 I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house ... I will judge his house for ever ... because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 2 Samuel 12:14 The child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. 2 Samuel 21:6-9 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD .... And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD. 1 Kings 2:33 Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever. 1 Kings 11:11-12 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. 1 Kings 21:29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house. 2 Kings 5:27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever.
