Talk about rubbing salt into the wound. Surely Bill Donahue can´t be THAT ignorant. Victims were powerless in the 1950´s. Even in today in certain area´s of the world molestation carries so much stigma that victims never speak of it, many commit suicide because of the shame, guilt etc. I saw a programme about a community in Brazil where a young boy admitted to being molested by the priest and the whole community turned on him and he was bullied mercilessly by his peers. Being raped by a man carries the stigma of homosexuality. Homosexuality was/is illegal in many catholic countries. It was illegal in Ireland until 1993. Going against the Catholic establishment would have been impossible, even the police didn´t want to know.
It can take many years before you can as an adult come to terms with what has happened. But it is always the victims fault.
I really hope that Bill does not get away this. Btw the Catholic league is according to Kathy Griffin some dude with a telephone and a computer lol.
Oh, if it was my child, molested by the priest or, by the plumber... ??? If it was molested by the plumber - 15 minutes later tha plumber would have be arrested !
