  1. This guy, Clements, hasn't got the brains of a dead frog! The Navy and the Coast Guard come and rescue him and this a*&hole gives credit to some nonexistent being wihthout whom he would never be in such dire straights in the first place. Why didn't his beloved god rescue his worthless ass.

  2. And where was god when dozens were praying for help when the Titanic sank and never got it?

Either he doesn't exist or he thought it was best to let them freeze to death while floating in the water.

hmm...I wonder which is more likely.

  3. He's a very lucky lucky man, no doubt, and since most of us have never been in that position, some may argue that it is inappropriate to be critical.  But since I have never been in that position, allow me to say to this man, WTF makes you so special?  How many other sailors have perished under similar circumstances?  Where was God for them? I wouldn't doubt for a moment that they prayed, screamed, shouted just as hard as he did for the almighty to resuce them in their time time of crisis.  But no, he let them die a horrid death, but he decided that you were worthy of his salvation.  Puuuuhlease!

  4. No.  It would have been a miracle if no plane were flying overhead and a raft materialized from underneath him.

  5. I didn't have to watch all of this to know it's Fox, and to expect the worst. Ridiculous, but what can we do? /shrug

  6. Given the US Xian culture, I think it is only natural to respond in this way to a near death experience!

What I find incredible is the lack of journalistic quality to not even (gently) question the illogic of a god saving this man. I know you have to be sensitive to feelings and emotions, but at least ask...

    Which god
    How do you know
Why did god allow the wave to crush the boat only to go ahead and save you
    etc

  7. A more honest statement would have been, "God sent a wave to capsize my boat and then He tried to drown me. Fortunately I wasn't alone to face our vicious Lord, because the US Navy and Coast Guard were watching over me. They rescued me from the terrible fate God had planned for me."

  8. I'm to the point that I downright despise "perspective" people that only find life amazing and magnificent after a death, tragedy or near miss.

Ever since I "got saved" from religion, I've valued every moment of my life and I don't need to see a sad story of TV, or be rescued, to remind me how life is special.

I'm truly embarrassed for this man and the Fox clown performing such a pathetic interview.

  10. I didn't watch this, only listened, and prior to mentioning the boat's name got the impression the interview was orchestrated.
The man sounded like he was struggling to answer what was asked of him, while not sounding so ungreatful to the rescuers.

  11. He does, eventually, give credit to the Coast Guard and Navy guys that rescued him, but not until he's repeatedly credited God for his survival. As others have said, if God is responsible for rescuing him, he's also responsible from almost drowning him. Oiy.

  12. Strange that he says he was on the right boat because it was called "glory of god" and yet it sank.
