Hindu Godman Trampling on Infants to "Bless" Them

Sanal Edamaruku speaks about a shocking and dangerous ritual in Bihar. A godman tramples on infants to bless them. Parents bring their children for this blessing. The parliament member from this area, a minister and a top priest defend the ritual in the name of religion and tradition. Two days after this TV interview, the godman was arrested and this ritual ended.

  3. I'm far from sensetive, but fuck this!
30 seconds in and I had to stop watching.
This guy deserves to have his legs severed at the kneecaps with a rusty chainsaw.

  4. what...the...fuck.

I'm going to use this video from now on to prove just how horrible the side effects of religion are. You'd never see an atheist giving someone their children to be trampled on.

    Absolutely insane.

  5. no one said the children were hurt. there was no reports of that- in fact they did say that no one was hurt. they also dubbed a fake crying sound over a smiling kid. this news report is dumb and plays up to sensationalism, and ya'll falling for it. I thought people on this site were smarter than that. No, its not good, but its not as bad as it looks. kids are rubbery and tough. Still this guy needs help as he is obviously metal disturbed and needs to be taken out of society.

  6. Dear psybermonkey,
I worked for the homless and I saw pleanty of athiests doing worse. Being a twat is not exclusive to religious people. I am slowly learning that not all athiests are intelligent.

  7. To Bill: I'd like some specific examples of atheists doing worse things than this in recent years ---events that can be documented.  You are making a gross generalization. Specifics, please.

  8. "<span>Kids are rubbery and tough."</span>

<span>You're joking right? You're trying to justify trodding on infants by blowing it off with "[they're] rubbery and tough".

  9. I'd also like some examples please, Bill.
When working with the homeless, what was it that atheists did worse than trodding on infants? And how did you come to know that they were atheists while in said act?

  10. Absolutely rubbish. It is at early age that kids are soft and sensitive.

  11. Why would you expect them to be? Intelligence and atheism are corrrelated, but it's not a rule.

  12. this ritual is an example of the power of ideology per se. In the name of the ideology (religious or not) people will justify all manner of behavior.  It appears, however, that devinely sanctioned ideology is the most virulent and the most resistent to change.  If god (or the gods) sanction it...

  13. bob, c. woods,

yes I can give you an example of athiests doing worse than this guy, this guy that seems to do weight displacement tricks with kids to shock people like you. My neighbours who are atheists can be heard calling their children 'c*nts' and threatening them with 'punch you in the f*cking head' if they dont do as they are told.  If you read my words again you will see that I said 'worse than this', meaning this guy- I suspect you could find a lot more worse than this all over the planet. Dont light your torches and join the sensational mob just yet guys.

bob, I worked in a homless shelter and got to know people quite well as some would stay for up to 3 years, the housing sector being as it is.

to chuckfullofnuts, my comment was of atheists seeming to be entirely intelligent was a mirror of the comment 'I am using this to prove how horrible the side effects of religion are'. another blanket and 'wrong' statement. It was to reinforce my statement, one which you support, that belife and intelligence has a direct corellation.

any repost of kids being hurt here? nope.

did I dismiss his behaviour? nope

please read and use your mind not your heart.

  14. <p>"none said the children were hurt…"
</p><p>..you didn't see an adult man standing on top of small children, it's all an illusion..
</p><p>"there was no reports of that.."
</p><p>..you haven't seen this video, it doesn't exist.. when I snap my fingers the Indian voices will stop, you'll slowly wake-up but remember nothing..

  15. <p>Some people are also slow learners when it comes to the difference between:
</p><p>doing something stupid AND being religious / pixieous / atheist.
    </p><p>and
</p><p>doing something stupid BECAUSE being religious / pixieous / atheist.
</p><p>Case: One of those 3 is drinking a cup of coffee while reading from a laptop, but accidentally spills the coffee over that expensive machine.. what do you think.. who is most likely that person?
</p><p>Case: One of those 3 spends most of his/her spare time looking for ini-mini-tiny-pretty-glowing-winged-humans in the forrest.. what do you think.. who is most likely that person?
</p><p>More on topic - Shame they didn't arrest that idiot godman earlier, but better late than never (as with learning).

  16. So if I'm to understand this correctly, Bill, calling your children "c*nts" and threatening them with violence [as opposed to persuading them through clever use of notions of eternal torture, I assume] is more horrific than trodding on infants?
This is where the moral compass of the religious lie.

  19. bob, what the hell are you on about? this old mad dude is sick, my neighbours are sicker. this dude isnt hurting kids, my neighbours are tourturing theirs. 'tredding'.

  20. <p>Bill, if you want to make the point that you are full off sh*t, you seem to be doing a fine job ever since post one.

  21. So, I was right in understanding what you wrote before, yes?

You honestly don't understand how ridiculous, and almost evil, your interpretion of the matter is, or your justification of it, and that saddens me.
