Hindu Godman Trampling on Infants to "Bless" Them

Sanal Edamaruku speaks about a shocking and dangerous ritual in Bihar. A godman tramples on infants to bless them. Parents bring their children for this blessing. The parliament member from this area, a minister and a top priest defend the ritual in the name of religion and tradition. Two days after this TV interview, the godman was arrested and this ritual ended.

  6. no one said the children were hurt. there was no reports of that- in fact they did say that no one was hurt. they also dubbed a fake crying sound over a smiling kid. this news report is dumb and plays up to sensationalism, and ya'll falling for it. I thought people on this site were smarter than that. No, its not good, but its not as bad as it looks. kids are rubbery and tough. Still this guy needs help as he is obviously metal disturbed and needs to be taken out of society.

    I worked for the homless and I saw pleanty of athiests doing worse. Being a twat is not exclusive to religious people. I am slowly learning that not all athiests are intelligent.

    When working with the homeless, what was it that atheists did worse than trodding on infants? And how did you come to know that they were atheists while in said act?

In the name of the ideology (religious or not) people will justify all manner of behavior.  It appears, however, that devinely sanctioned ideology is the most virulent and the most resistent to change.  If god (or the gods) sanction it...

    yes I can give you an example of athiests doing worse than this guy, this guy that seems to do weight displacement tricks with kids to shock people like you. My neighbours who are atheists can be heard calling their children 'c*nts' and threatening them with 'punch you in the f*cking head' if they dont do as they are told.  If you read my words again you will see that I said 'worse than this', meaning this guy- I suspect you could find a lot more worse than this all over the planet. Dont light your torches and join the sensational mob just yet guys.

    bob, I worked in a homless shelter and got to know people quite well as some would stay for up to 3 years, the housing sector being as it is.

    to chuckfullofnuts, my comment was of atheists seeming to be entirely intelligent was a mirror of the comment 'I am using this to prove how horrible the side effects of religion are'. another blanket and 'wrong' statement. It was to reinforce my statement, one which you support, that belife and intelligence has a direct corellation.

    any repost of kids being hurt here? nope.

    did I dismiss his behaviour? nope
