A Sunni cleric at the Islamic institute Darul Ifta has issued a fatwa against Bollywood actor Salman Khan for having a wax replica of himself unveiled at Madame Tussaud's wax museum in London. The cleric, Mufti Saleem Ahmad Qasmi, said that Islam does not permit statues of any living being.
The fatwa noted that ‘‘if the Bollywood actor does not re-affirm Kalima-e-Tayyeba, he will not be considered a Muslim’’. [Kalima-e-Tayyeba is the shahadah:, the affirmation of faith: La Ilaha Illa Ahhah: Wa Muhammad Rasool Allah.]
