Thanksgiving Editorial:

Thanksgiving... the day, originated with the Pilgrims in the early 1600's and celebrated the harvest, their friendship with the American Indians who taught them how to forage for food and plant life, sustaining crops and certainly their goodwill towards each other.

More importantly and many years later, George Washington summed it up best in his Thanksgiving Proclamation - "And I quote" for the many signal favors of Almighty God in the lives of the people.

He went on to ask that the day be devoted to the service of that great and generous Being who is the beneficial author of all the good there was, there is and there will be.

Obviously there are those in public office, the courts and the private sector who would disagree with President Washington's thoughts. Secularism is on the rise in this country and around the world --- that's a fact.

It just seems so natural to accept President Washington's remarks that it makes one wonder the true agenda of those who cannot or will not embrace them as well.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
